With the summer baseball season coming to a close, it is time that we begin transitioning the players into their off season programs.
While some of the players will continue playing into the fall, the physical demands that will be called upon them in the field, will be drastically reduced compared to what it has been this summer.
My first objective this off season is to allow some time for the athletes to recovery mentally and physically. This also includes focusing on correcting any limiting issues that arose, such as muscular and flexibility imbalances.
Another goal is to redevelop the aerobic system which has dropped off in performance from the season. Seeing what I have seen thus far tells me that next year, I will need to place a greater focus on aerobic capacity maintenance throughout the in season period. A few of the baseball players have come back lacking in this area.
